Youkoso minna-san!  You have arrived at my page dedicated to all my childhood favorite characters.  Previously kept in my Animated Harem, they were beginning to take up a lot of room, and besides, I began loving these guys as a kid, not as a teen (like I did the boys in my Harem)...that's two totally different kinds of love, ne?  Thus, this section of my harem is home to a variety of genders, species, etc.   So I decided that they deserved their own special place on my site.

I've included pictures and quotes of my favorites, and of course, just why I love them!  I've listed them in alphabetical order by first name (since most don't have last names ^.^)

Aladdin ~ Aladdin

Background

Aladdin is a poor "street rat" who falls in love with the Princess of Agrabah.

Why?

I always liked his confidence, and his attitude in general...He's very loyal, honest, and brave...Plus, he was one of the few good looking Disney guys ^^

The Beavers ~ The Angry Beavers

Background

Norbert and Daggett, after moving out of their parents' dam, go on to live together, having many misadventures along the way.

Why?

A show about two silly siblings and their conflicts...What's not to love?   Having a younger brother, I can somewhat relate to Norbert.  He's the more mature one, though he can be goofy when he wants to.  Plus, the brothers are into junk food and 60's stuff...You gotta love that!

Balto ~ Balto

Background

Balto is a half-wolf, half-husky, and faced much persecution because of this.  Despite not being allowed to go on the trip, Balto followed anyway, and ended up leading the team safely back to Nome, with the antitoxin.

Why?

Balto is a hero, and a darn good one.  He went from disliking himself, to realizing that his wolf blood as an asset, not a handicap.  Despite how everyone else treated him, he still managed to save everyone...He's rather inspirational, actually ^_^

Basil of Baker Street ~ The Great Mouse Detective

Background

Basil lives on Baker Street, in London, where he works as a detective.

Why?

Basil is the perfect incarnation of my favorite fictional sleuth...intelligent,  sweet, with a touch of eccentrics added in.  I've long been a fan of the Sherlock Holmes books, so Basil's place here is not surprising.   When I was little, I loved the movie (this was even before I had gotten my hands on very many of the Holmes stories)

Bonkers ~ Bonkers

Background

Bonkers is a goofy toon bobcat who goes, quite by accident, from being an actor to an actual cop.

Why?

I always loved this show when I was little.  Bonkers was hilarious, always getting into trouble (much to the dismay of his partner, Lucky Piquel)  Despite his unorthodox methods, the cases were always solved.  He has so much energy, and a desire to do good; even if he does tend to botch it most of the time ^^;;

Mrs. Brisby ~ The Secret of NIMH

Background

Mrs. Brisby lives with her family in the field of a farmer.  When he goes to till the ground, all the inhabitants of the field must flee, or be killed.  However, Mrs. Brisby's youngest son, Timothy, is terribly ill, and cannot be moved.  In order to stall the tractor, she seeks the help of the Great Owl.  He instructs her to go to the rats who live in the rosebush.  Upon doing so, she learns that they escaped from NIMH, just as her husband had.  Nichodemus, the leader of the group, agreed to have the rats help move her house to a safe place, and gives her a strange red stone.   However, he is later betrayed by Jenner, who kills him as the rats work the mechanisms they are using to lift the Brisby home.  When he falls, the contraption also fails, dropping the house into the thick mud.  Mrs. Brisby, who refuses to watch her family die, grabs one of the ropes.  As she does, the stone around her neck shines brightly, giving her enough power to move the house out of the mud, and place it safely on solid ground.  Shortly after this, the rats leave, with Mrs. Brisby giving the stone to Justin, a friend. 

Why?

Mrs. Brisby loves her family more than anything else in the world.  That's an important value in my book.  She's willing to do anything, no matter the risk to her own life, to save her children.  That's very admirable.

Bugs Bunny ~ Looney Toons

Background

Quite possibly Warner Bros. most famous character.

Why?

Who doesn't love Bugs Bunny?  Normally, I don't like the predator-prey cartoons ('cause the predator always gets mangled in every way possible...for no reason!), but I make an exception for Bugs.  A "helpless little rabbit" who always manages to outsmart every hunter, predator, or other weirdo who comes after him...and he does it with flair ^^

Charlie B. Barkin ~ All Dogs Go to Heaven

Background

Charlie works with his partner, Ichy, to live on the streets through his various scams.

Why?

Charlie goes from being a street-smart con artist who wanted nothing but money to a caring, protective dog who would give his life to save a little girl.  Now that is a 180 degree change in character if I ever saw one.  He's really impressive in that way.

Darkwing Duck ~Darkwing Duck

DW is tied with TC for my first animated obsession ^_^

Background

Drake Mallard, seemingly average duck, has a second identity.  He is Darkwing Duck, protector of St. Canard.  DW protects the town from all sorts of wacky villains, all while trying to deal with his overzealous daughter, Gozalyn.

Why?

DW is very confident, bordering on arrogant, but in a good way ^_^   Sure, he's kinda egotistical at times, but who isn't?  He's very determined and fairly optimistic.  He also cares greatly for his daughter, and always tries to keep her safe.  I used to watch Darkwing Duck all the time when I was little, and his antics always entertained me.  Even now, when I catch a rerun on the Disney Channel, I still enjoy watching DW fight crime ^_^  Plus, I love his costume...A purple jacket and hat with a turquoise turtleneck...fabulous!

Dodger ~ Oliver and Company

Background

The street-smart leader of Feagan's dogs, Dodger is the first to find Oliver.

Why?

He has that perfect attitude...street-smart, cool, suave, but with a heart of gold...Ever since I first saw the movie, I've always been attached to him.  I even named my first dog 'Dodger' (Hey, I was little, okay?) But, he's a cute little mutt, too, so I guess it fits ^_^  Plus, he's an adorable little mutt...one of the best kinds of dog out there!   *huggles her own little mutt*

Double D ~ Ed, Edd, 'n Eddy

Background

Double D hangs out with Ed and Eddy, who have many misadventures on their cul-de-sac ^^

Why?

Out of the three, I always liked Double D best.  He's the smart, quiet one. (Like I was as a kid...and still am, actually ^^;;)  He's also a total neat-freak (unlike me ^^;;) and communicates with his parents via sticky notes *G*

Draco ~ DragonHeart

Background

Draco gave half his heart to a prince named Inan, so that he might live, as a favor to the boy's mother.  Years later, when the boy is king, Bowen (Inan's former teacher) is a knight turned dragon-hunter.  When he confronts Draco, he learns that Draco is the last dragon left.  Shortly after this, the two team up and work together to fight against Inan's oppression of the innocent.

Why?

First of all, I love dragons ^^  Draco has such a good character.   He's honest, giving, and he keeps old values.  Plus, he has Sean Connery as a voice.  *Drools*

Freakazoid ~ Freakazoid

Background

Dexter Douglas is a computer nerd.  After his cat walks on the keyboard, entering a strange combination of characters, Dexter presses the delete key.   This causes him to be zapped into cyberspace, and transforms him into the Freakazoid.

Why?

Freakazoid is quite possibly one of the silliest cartoon characters I've ever seen.  And that's why I love him ^_^  He's totally nuts, but in a good way.   Plus, in civilian ID, he's a total nerd (like me!) *G*

Garfield ~ Garfield

Background

Garfield is the cat belonging to Jon Arbuckle, a cartoonist.

Why?

I can totally relate to Garfield...Mondays are horrid, spiders are icky, Italian food rules, and of course, 'diet' is 'die' with a 't' ^_^  I just love his personality; he captures the essence of the cat, perfectly (remember, this is coming from a gal with a whole house full of cats!).  He is the ruler of the house, no doubt.  He actually reminds me a lot of both myself and my cat *G* Plus, he's a big, fat orange tabby cat...How could you not love that?  Of course, the fact that my cat Cinnamon also fits that description helps ^_^

Ickis ~ Aaahh! Real Monsters

Background

Ickis is the son of the famed Slickis.  He attends school with his friends Krumm and Oblina.

Why?

When I was younger, this was one of my very favorite shows.  Ickis was the most amusing one of the trio, in my opinion.  He's got a bit of an inferiority complex, plus he's hyper, often nervous, very excitable, and...totally adorable ^^  He looks like a bunny rabbit.

Justin ~ The Secret of NIMH

Background

Justin is the Captain of the Guards for the rats who live in the rosebush.  He helped Mrs. Brisby in her quest to save her family.  It was Justin who fought Jenner, after he betrayed Nichodemus.  After Jenner had been defeated and the Brisby family saved, he lead the other rats on their new quest.  He received the powerful stone from Mrs. Brisby, who had gotten it from Nichodemus.

Why?

Justin has a good sense of honor.  He's also very friendly.  He was one of the only rats who was willing to help Mrs. Brisby, without being told to by Nichodemus.   He's just a good hero...He always reminded me of a knight in shining armor, the way he was there for Mrs. Brisby and her children ^_^

Launchpad McQuack ~ Ducktails & Darkwing Duck

Background

Launchpad comes from a family of aviators.  He is a talented pilot himself; he just has problems with landing.  Thinking that he has shamed his family, he leaves to travel the world.  At various points, he works for Scrooge McDuck and Drake Mallard (Darkwing Duck)

Why?

I've always liked Launchpad.  He's such a goofball. ^^  He's humorous, and a really good person.

Oblina ~ Aaahh! Real Monsters

Background

Oblina comes from a very wealthy, well-to-do family, but she studies very hard and is one of the brightest students at the Academy.  She often works with her friends Ickis and Krumm

Why?

Ickis entertains me, but I can relate to Oblina.   She's the studious, slightly stuffy character.  I always liked her. ^^

Ren is the Prince of Octopon and seeks the thirteen treasures of Rule to stop the Dark Water, a force consuming the world of Mer.

This was one of the first Western series that I ever saw that actually had plot continuity and character depth.  I always liked Ren...though I don't really remember why ^^;;

Robin Hood ~Robin Hood

Background

Robin is the roguish hero that "robs from the rich and gives to the poor".  He prowls Sherwood Forest, and often clashes with the Sheriff of Nottingham.

Why?

From one of my favorite types of story, Robin is an adorable, foxy incarnation of the famous literary character.   Plus, he's a fox...Need I say more? ^n_n^  Also, he has a very nice voice, with the bonus of being able to change it to imitate others ^_^

Schmendrick ~ The Last Unicorn

Schmendrick is the only guy who is both here, and in my Harem ^_^

Background

Schmendrick is the magician in The Last Unicorn.   He follows the Unicorn throughout her quest.

Mentally...

From my earliest memories, I was obsessed with unicorns in my youth.  So, it's no wonder that The Last Unicorn was one of my very favorite movies.  I always liked Schmendrick...He's the ultimate gentleman/sage/bumbling magician ^_^  I really love his genuine ingenuity and determination in the face of incredible odds. Not to mention, his quirky sense of humor.  

Physically...

Schmendrick is actually kinda cute, if in a slightly goofy way.  Most people are quick to point out his slim figure or his large nose, but that really doesn't matter...He's so cute when he smiles ^_^

Vocally...

I really liked his voice...plus he had a lot of great lines ^_^

Egon is the resident scientist among the Ghostbusters.  He is likely the most intelligent of the group, and designed their ghost-catching gear.

Egon's very intelligent.  I've always liked smart characters ^^

Spirit ~ Spirit:  Stallion of the Cimarron

Background

Spirit is a wild Mustang, and the leader of the Cimarron herd.  However, upon investigating a group of men in his area, he is captured by them.  They take him to a cavalry outpost, where they try to break him.  He is later freed by an Indian named Little Creek.  After this, he returns to the Lakota's village, where he meets Rain, a mare.  Shortly after this, the village is attacked.  Rain is injured, and falls into the river.  Spirit jumps in after her, and the two go over a waterfall.   Upon getting out of the water, it is obvious that Rain is in very bad shape.   More men soon come, taking Spirit away.  After a train ride, he finds himself forced to help build a railroad.  He quickly realizes that it is heading toward his homeland.  He then frees himself, and successfully stops the progress of the tracks.   After being saved again by Little Creek, he encounters the cavalry men again.   The two flee, and finally manage to escape.  Upon returning to the village, Spirit is surprised to see that Rain is alive and well.  Little Creek then releases the two, who return to Spirit's herd.

Why?

Quite possibly the only animated character who does justice to the spirit of the horse...How could I not love him?  He's such a free spirit, willing to do anything to live in freedom.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ~ Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Background

Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michaelango live together in the sewer systems.   Trained by Master Splinter, and befriended by April O'Niel, they fight evil, often in the form of Shredder and his henchmen.

Why?

When I was little, I loved this show.  I always liked the humor, and the fight sequences. Plus, the guys were Ninjas.  You know that's cool ^_^  And, of course, Splinter was very cool.  It was just great ^_^

The Entire Cast ~ Winnie the Pooh

Background

Pooh and company live in the Hundred Acre Wood, where they have many adventures.

Why?

This was one of my favorite shows as a child...and I still think it's cute, actually ^_^  Everything from Piglet's timidity to Rabbit's fussiness; from Tigger's exuberance to Pooh's hunger for honey, the show is great.

Todd ~ Fox and the Hound

Background

Todd was orphaned at a young age, and adopted by a widow who raised him.  He later befriends a hound dog named Copper.  They prove that friendship can last through anything.

Why?

It's such a nice movie, about friendship ^_^  Plus, I do have a thing for foxes *G*

Top Cat ~ Top Cat

TC is tied with DW for my first animated obsession ^_^

Background

Top Cat is an alley cat, living on the streets of a large city.  He and his gang often get into trouble with Officer Dibble, due to their many get-rich-quick schemes.

Why?

Witty, smart, and just plain cool...That's how I'd describe TC ^_^  I was always amused by his interactions with Officer Dibble, as well as how he always managed to evade the punishment that his actions would normally have brought.  When I was little, I used to idolize him...I easily pictured myself as a little girl kitty, hanging out with TC and the gang. ^_^

The Tramp ~ Lady and the Tramp

Background

The Tramp is a stray dog, who meets up with Lady, a wealthy cocker spaniel.  The two eventually fall in love.

Why?

Tramp is the opposite of most heros...He's rather irresponsible, though very charming.   Despite this, his good qualities are brought out by love and friendship.
